Cardinal Engineering recently received accolades from Austal USA for shock qualification work performed on the Waterjet propulsors for the Austal built Littoral Combat Ship (LCS). The work was performed under tasking from Wärtsilä, the manufacturer of the LCS Waterjets, and specifically involved developing a shock qualification by extension request package for submittal to the U.S. Navy. Austal was impressed by the thoroughness of the shock qualification extension package, Cardinal’s ability to articulate and report all of the required information, and most importantly, in Cardinal’s shock qualification package meeting U.S. Navy approval authority expectations. The delivered product was concise, accurate, and required no revision by the shipyard. In the words of the Austal customer, “All extension packages should be this good.”
